I-FOG WAS ORIGINALLY CREATED as an aid to reduce heat issues experienced by Duramax owners, including LLY sufferers who want to tow heavy loads in warm weather.  If you have read about Thermal Feedback on THESE pages, you know that the induction system can suffer huge temperature increases.  When the fan comes on, is when it gets even worse, hence the nature of this problem is that it feeds on itself.  If you have been paying attention, you have seen how you lose a lot of performance in the hot months.  I-FOG uses evaporative cooling to:

  1. Increase air/oxygen density
  2. Increase compressor efficiency
  3. Reduce heat sent to the intercooler
  4. Make your truck perform much better in hot weather

To be used in combination with an existing high pressure delivery system of your choosing.  We recommend the highest pressure possible, up to 1000 psi.  100 psi minimum.  This video shows the atomization quality at only 100 psi of pump pressure.   This can’t be accomplished with a single nozzle.  At 1000 psi the result is an amazingly fine white fog that has the consistency of smoke, with twice the cooling effect and volumetric output.

WHAT”S THE POINT?

The turbo compresses intake air, and as it does it is dramatically heated.  If you can picture compressed air under 25 psi of boost, exiting the turbo at 390F without I-FOG, but only 260 F with I-FOG, then perhaps you can start to see the benefits.  Or say, 30 psi of boost at 6000 ft elevation.  The compressor outlet temperature has been logged at 590 F, and dropped to  420 F with I-FOG.   An intercooler that is 150 F cooler allows the radiator to perform much more effectively.  The fan occurence and duration is much lower also.  How can it do this?  Read THIS ARTICLE  featured in MaxxTorque Magazine.

A SECOND FUEL POWER ADDER

Gaseous methanol is much more combustible than conventional post intercooler misting methods can achieve.  Mythbuster:   if someone has told you that methanol eats aluminum, they were flat wrong.   This is one of the most widely spread untruths in this hobby.  We have several aluminum samples bathing in various concentrations of methanol, soaking for over a year now, and there has been no measurable erosion.  There is ONE magic concentration that will react, and we are not going to share it, because you will never see it, and we have never been able to accidentally reproduce it.

I-FOG is CNC machined from a single block of 6061 aluminum in a 12-step process.  Each has 8 nozzles and is available in 2 configurations:  8 in one, the all-plumbed-together, single point charging, and the 6/2 2-stage configuration.  This version allows you to run only 2 nozzles if preferred, with the other 6 separately accessed from its own circuit.   For example, if you wanted to run separate tanks of water and methanol, you could inject water through 2 nozzles for a cross country trip.  The other 6 could be charged with high concentration methanol for that desired power adder, triggered at 100% throttle perhaps.  And you could use a logic controller that combines them under the conditions that you define.

There are 3 choices in nozzle flow rates.  To help you decide on your own configuration, a spreadsheet is available HERE.  All nozzles are stainless steel with a brass housing.

NOTE:  For 04.5 and 05 engines, you will need the 06-on LBZ mouthpiece upgrade, shown below, or Original IOH kit (recommended)
